Mawnan Parish Church

Old Church Road

The Parish Church was built in 1231, and dedicated to
St Mawnan (Maunanus).
There is also St Michael’s, in the village.
Weekly services are advertised on the notice boards
( or see the Mawnan Diary).
The Parish church has many visitors, because of its location.
During the summer season it is often open during the day.

The Parish Church stands in a stunning position 100 m. from the South Cornwall Coastal footpath, overlooking the mouth of the Helford River. It is a beacon for walkers, sailors and pilgrims; a much appreciated haven of tranquility and spiritual refreshment.

a team of church watchers welcome visitors, with information leaflets in several languages
the Flower Guild not only decorate the Church, but also the Lych Gate
a short Wednesday morning service is enhanced by coffee and biscuits
Pentecost bonfires on the nearby headland are visible for miles, whilst the newly hung ring of six bells call out over river and field
transport is provided for guests staying at local hotels
parishioners offer a "Wedding Package" to couples - floral arrangements, organist, choir, bells, marquee, catering facilities and B&B accommodation

In 2005, the church made it to the FINAL 12 of the national "Search for a Church" competition for churches doing the most to attract new worshippers and visitors. The winner was St Keverne Parish Church - you can see more at the Ecclesiastical web site

Service of Prayer and Bible Reflection, followed by refreshments.
this is a 15 minute sevice to which all are welcome.
