Mawnan Churches Together are once again providing home made soup and rolls every Friday during Lent, commencing on Friday 24th February through till Friday 30th March inclusive, in the Methodist Hall at 12.30pm. Please come and enjoy a delicious lunch in a lovely friendly atmosphere.
Mothers' Union
Wednesday 8th February - We shall be meeting in the Methodist Schoolroom
at 2.30 pm when we will be hearing about the work of Penhaligon’s
Friends. This is a charitable organisation formed in 1995 which seeks to
support children and young people in Cornwall who have experienced a bereavement
of someone who was close to them. Everyone is welcome to this meeting.
Wednesday 29th February - MU Communion at 10.00 am in St Michael’s
Catholic Church
There will be no Mass on Sundays at St Edwards but there will be Mass every
Thursday at 10am.
Mawnan WI
Thursday 9th February – Annual Meeting followed by a light hearted
quiz compiled by Sue Miner. Please note this meeting starts at 7.15pm.
Tuesday 21st February – Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race in the Memorial
Hall at 1.30pm.
Mawnan History Group
February 8th Cornish Lighthouses with Alan Cox. All meetings are held in
the Memorial Hall at 7.30pm.
Mawnan Wives
Friday 17th February – Projects at the Maritime Museum with Jenny
Wittamore.
Mawnan Parish Council
The next meeting will take place on Thursday 16th February in the Memorial
Hall at 7.30pm. Residents are encouraged to attend and raise any issues,
concerns or ideas they have to the Council.
Saturday 11th February - Mawnan Memorial Hall, Coffee morning and indoor
market. There will be at least 16 stalls selling a wide variety of products,
a raffle and bacon butties on offer in the tea room.
Profits from the event will be given to Help for Heroes. Event will run
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mawnan Garden Club
Thursday 23rd February – Tracy Wilson, ‘An Englishwoman in a
Japanese Garden’.
Abbeyfield are having a coffee morning on Friday 10th February 10.30 till 12 . There will be a cake stall and a raffle and everyone is welcome.
Mawnan Memorial Hall
FREE Social Coffee Morning Saturday 18th Feb 2012 10.30 to 12 noon. Just
come along and chat.

Mawnan Pantomime Group present Mummy Mia, a pantomime in Ancient Egypt,
2nd – 4th February, in the Memorial Hall, 7.15pm and 2.15pm (Saturday
matinee). Tickets £5.50 (£5 matinee) from Spar or Berry and
Co.
NEW - EVENING PILATES CLASS WITH NIC
Starting on Monday 6th February at 5.30 pm in Mawnan Memorial Hall. Pilates
is a great way to improve your posture, core strength and keep fit. This
is a mixed ability class that can accommodate beginners or the more experienced.

TOASTED TEA CAKES at the SHELTERBOX Coffee
Morning, Wednesday 1st Feb. 1000 to 1200 at the Bowls Club
(200 yards up from the Craft Centre). Arrange to meet your friends, or meet
someone new, in pleasant surroundings. November's meeting raised £110
and ALL proceeds go to ShelterBox.
Mobile Library - The van will call at the usual village stops on Weds 1st February, 15th February, and 29th February (Leap Year Day!) - we hope to see you there. Please be reminded that the stop at Castle View Drive is from 1pm - 1.30pm only

Advance Information for March/April
On Monday 5th March 2012 in the Memorial Hall, there will be more ‘FAVOURITE
THINGS’ (prose or poetry) chosen and read by a stellar cast, including
the new Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, the Bishop of Truro, Daphne Skinnard
(Radio Cornwall) and Peter Griffiths (Acting President of Falmouth Rotary
Club). The beneficiaries will be Mawnan Parish Churches, the Hall’s
roof repairs and the Royal British Legion. Our co-founder from 2004, the
Rev, Canon Caroline Pinchbeck is coming to take part. Tickets £10
(including our trademark superb supper) will be available from the 1st December
(and on previous occasions were sold out by Christmas). To book contact

The Kids Show – Saturday 31st March in
the Memorial Hall, 2 – 3.30pm. A show put on by young people in aid
of ‘Kids for Kids’, Cornish children raising money for the Cornish
Cuddle centre in Africa.

• Perform a sketch or short play? 10 minute max for each act.
• Perform a solo/ take part in a group/have ago at singing, dancing
or making music/gymnastic or circus skills?
There will also be a tableau showing how children live in this impoverished
area, a talk by Annette who founded this charity 10 years ago, a games area
– bring your 5p’s or 10p’s and try your luck, delicious
home made teas, £1.50 children, £3 adults.
