Sunday Services
Every Sunday at St Michael’s 8 a.m. Holy Communion (Prayer Book)
Parish Church, Old Church Road

26th Sep 10.30am Sunday’s Special - Back to Church Sunday
Please join us for refreshments after these services in the Parish Church.
We use mainly Fairtrade goods in Church.
NOTE; No service on Sunday 12th September, as we have been invited to join
the Methodist Chapel for their Harvest Festival at 11.00 a.m.
Weekday Services at St Michael’s
Every Wednesday 10 a.m. Morning Worship at St Michael’s
Wednesday 29th September – Mothers Union Communion Service at 10am.
All Welcome at these services.
Evening Worship - based on an Iona style service with guitar accompaniment
will be held at St Michael’s at 6 p.m. on Sunday 12th September
Our churches are disability friendly and we have large print hymn books
available on request.
Graves in the Parish Church Graveyard
It has been brought to the Parochial Church Council’s attention that
some of the graves are suffering from subsidence. So, if you have a loved
one buried in the graveyard in one of the graves that has suffered subsidence,
you can top the grave off again either by returfing it, or by filling in
with good quality topsoil and grass seed.
Mawnan Mothers' Union
Wednesday 8th September There will be a service in St Michaels' at 2.30
pm followed by a short meeting in the Methodist Schoolroom.
Wednesday 29th September MU Communion in St Michael's at 10.00 am
An ongoing supply of teddies for tragedies, blankets for the Treliske neonatal
unit and balaclavas for Thailand is always needed so thank you very much
to all those who are knitting these.

Pentyr Singers at the Chapel. Programmes £3 in aid of chapel funds,
A Helston based mixed Cornish choir. Please come and make them welcome on
their first visit to our chapel.
Catholic Church
There will be no Mass on Sundays at St Edwards but there will be Mass every
Thursday at 10am.
Mawnan Parish Council
Thursday 16th September – 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. Residents are
encouraged to come along to any meeting, take part in the public participation,
and listen to the proceedings.
Mawnan Wives
Friday September 24th 7.30pm – AGM (Please note new date)
Mawnan Wives are celebrating their 40th Anniversary on October 15th – any former members wishing to join us for a meal at The Cove will be most welcome. Please contact Jill Brock 250746.
Mawnan Garden Club
Thursday 23rd September – ‘Fun with Fuschias’, with Carol
Richards. 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
Mobile Library - the van will call at the usual
village stops on Wed. 1st. Wed. 15th and Wed. 29th September - we hope to
see you there! We have a good selection of books, audio books, DVDs etc.
for children and adults. So come along!
My housebound service continues to run, and I believe, is welcomed by my
users. If you know of anyone who cannot get along to the library van, and
would like to make use of this service, just call Catherine, 250683.

Thursday 9th September – ‘Party Nibbles’ with Mr Mike
Maguire.
Tuesday 14th September – Open Evening Beetle Drive, 7.30pm in the
Memorial Hall.
Carwinion Garden - Our annual Bring a Plant,
Buy a Plant sale for the MS Society will be on Saturday September 25th,
10am -3pm. All Welcome.
RNLI House to House Collection in Mawnan
Many thanks to all those who gave so generously to the Lifeboat collection
in July. We raised £606.50, an increase on last year. The total Flag
Week collection for Falmouth was £2242.91. My thanks too to all my
collectors who gave their time so willingly to help me. Pauline Allday
Music for a summers evening.
Thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make the evening a big success.
£ 500 was raised for The Made For Life Foundation supporting people
with cancer. Thank you too to Margaret Bird and friends for such a wonderful
concert.
Helford River Charity Swim
Saturday 18th September, 2.30pm, in aid of local charities. Everyone welcome
to come and join in.
Would you like to swim across the Helford River? This is your opportunity
to achieve your goal. All swimming abilities welcome, safety boats, back
up and encouragement provided! Wet suits, fancy dress.........anything goes!

Macmillan Cancer Support ‘World’s
Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Our Coffee Morning is taking place on Friday 24th September at Mawnan Memorial
Hall, from 10am until 1230pm.
All the money raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. There
will be the usual stalls including Cakes, Plants, Toys, Books, Bric a Brac,
Tombola and Competitions.
This year will be our 10th Coffee Morning and we have a really excellent
raffle. Please come and help us celebrate our 10 years. Any donations for

Scrabble
Is anyone is interested in playing SCRABBLE on a regular basis starting
September or October? The venue would be at the home of Pamela Standring

Mawnan Panto 2011 – Informal auditions/read through of script
Anyone (aged 7-107) interested in being part of the next village panto,
both on and off stage, is invited to meet at the Memorial Hall on Monday
September 6th 7.30pm. We will read through the script and see who is interested
in which parts. You know you want to have a go! Oh yes you do! Scripts (£1
donation) and character lists (free) will be available at Berry & Co

Mawnan Panto Group Variety Show
Calling all members of the Panto group and talented people of the village.
Acts sought for a village variety show on Saturday 2nd October. Anything
considered -singing, dancing, music, comedy, magic, juggling etc. For more
